I work in advertising, but try not to make it my life. I love writing, art and design - and focus my time on these when I'm not working or hanging out with my family.
Just finished watching Copyright Criminals, which featured the DJ/Sampling/Video Mash-Up duo Eclectic Method, along with some of hip-hop's biggest names. The documentary is fairly thorough in its investigation of hip-hop from the 90's, which utilized classic samples and breaks as its foundation.
While "mash" is nothing new, these two do a good job of making the songs work from both an audio standpoint, as well as a visual.
No matter where you sit on the sampling issue, it's hard not to find something interesting in the approach that Eclectic Method takes in their work. And check out Copyright Criminals via Independent Lens on PBS for a ton of great interviews and more info on the topic.
